Terms of Use

Welcome to TailTag. These Terms are the agreement between you and us for using TailTag. We have kept them short and plain on purpose: you came here because of an animal, not to read law. By creating an account or using TailTag, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use TailTag.

1. Who we are

TailTag is operated by TailBook d.o.o., registered in Montenegro, at Trg Sunca br. 4, 85310 Budva. You can reach us at tailbookme@gmail.com or through the Support button in the footer.

2. What TailTag is

TailTag gives an animal a digital profile and, if the animal ever goes missing, a page that can be shared and read by anyone — no account needed on the other side.

With TailTag you can:

• create a profile for your animal: name, photographs, distinguishing features, the things a stranger would need in order to recognise them;
• turn on a search if the animal goes missing, which makes a page public at one address in seven languages;
• receive messages from people who saw your animal, including from people with no account;
• see possible matches - animals that people have reported as found, and street animals recorded in TailBook, that resemble the one you are looking for;
• check a microchip number against animals being looked for;
• in future, attach a physical TailTag to a collar.

TailTag is not a tracking device. It has no GPS and no radio. It does not know where your animal is and it cannot find them. What it does is make it easy for a person who has already found your animal to reach you, and make it easier for you to notice when somebody has.

TailTag is not a veterinary service, a shelter, or an insurer, and it gives no veterinary or legal advice.

3. Your TailTag account

TailTag and TailBook are two products of the same company. They are separate services: each has its own accounts and keeps its own records.

What that means in practice:

• an account you create in TailTag is a TailTag account. It does not sign you in to TailBook, and a TailBook account does not sign you in to TailTag;
• if you use both products you have two accounts, even when they carry the same email address. Changing or deleting one does not change or delete the other;
• these Terms govern your use of TailTag, and the TailBook Terms of Use govern your use of TailBook;
• the TailTag Privacy Policy applies to TailTag, and it says what the two products share and what they do not.

You must be at least 16 to use TailTag. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for what happens under your account.

4. Your animal's page, and what becomes public

An animal's profile is private by default. It is shown to you, and to nobody who simply asks for it.

Two things open a page to other people, and both are things you do.

A code on a collar. If you print a card for an address capsule, or attach a tag, the code on it opens a page for whoever reads it. That page shows the animal's name, one photograph, its species, sex, age and colours, and a way to write to you. It shows nothing else, and it is there so that a person holding your animal can reach you.

A search. Described below.

When you turn on a search, a page becomes public at its own address, and these become visible to anyone who opens it:

• the animal's name, species and description;
• the photographs you chose for that page — not your whole gallery, only the ones you picked;
• roughly where and when the animal went missing, as you described it;
• a reward, if you offered one;
• the animal's permanent code.

These stay private, and are never shown on that page: your address, your email, your telephone number unless you put one there yourself, and the animal's microchip number.

You can end a search at any time, and the page stops being public. Copies other people have already made — a screenshot, a printed poster, a post in a chat — are outside our control, and that is in the nature of asking the public for help.

5. What you contribute

You keep ownership of your photographs and text. By adding them you confirm you have the right to, and you allow us to show them inside TailTag and on the public search page you turn on.

Please add only truthful information. A search page is read by strangers who may act on it; a false one wastes the attention of people who were willing to help. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.

6. Messages from people who found an animal

Anyone can write to you about an animal you are looking for, without an account. That is deliberate: a sign-up wall between a frightened animal and the person standing next to it is how the one useful message of the week is lost.

It also means we cannot verify who is writing. Treat a message as a lead, not as proof. If you arrange to meet somebody, meet in a public place. Be careful with anyone who demands money before returning an animal — a reward you offered is your own decision and your own risk, and we are not a party to it.

If you are the one who found an animal: what you write, and any contact detail you choose to leave, is passed to the person looking for that animal. Leave a contact detail only if you want to be contacted.

7. Possible matches

While a search is open, TailTag keeps comparing it with animals that people report to TailTag as found, and with street animals that people record in TailBook, using details such as species, colour, sex, place and time, and photographs where it has them.

A street animal recorded in TailBook is shown to you as its public page describes it, with a link to that page. It stays TailBook's record: TailTag keeps a note of what the page said and where it is, and nothing else.

A possible match is a suggestion to go and look. It is never a statement that we found your animal. Nothing is ever merged automatically, no record is changed on its own, and every result is for a person to judge. The comparison is a machine's opinion and it is often wrong in both directions: it can miss your animal and it can offer you one that is not yours.

Confirming a match records that you decided, not that we did.

8. Physical tags

A physical TailTag is a tag for a collar carrying a code that can be read by phone, dictated over the telephone, or opened by NFC or QR.

A tag is an interface to an animal, not the animal's identity. Tags are lost, scratched, chewed and outgrown. When one is replaced, the animal's record, history and page are unaffected, and the old tag stops working. We make no promise that any individual tag lasts for any particular time.

Physical tags are not on sale yet. When they are, terms of sale, delivery and returns will be published separately and will apply to the purchase in addition to these Terms.

9. What we do not guarantee

TailTag is provided "as is" and "as available."

We cannot promise that your animal will be found. We cannot promise that anybody will see a page, that a message will arrive, that a notification will be delivered by a phone, or that a comparison will spot the right animal. We work to keep the service running and will say so honestly when it is not.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TailBook d.o.o. is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of TailTag, for what other users do, or for decisions you take based on information in TailTag — including meeting somebody, paying a reward, or acting on a possible match. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us, if any. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Suspension and ending

You can stop using TailTag at any time and delete your account in settings. This closes your TailTag account. A TailBook account, if you have one, is a separate account and is not affected.

We may suspend or close an account used for fraud, for extorting people who have lost an animal, for harassment, or in a way that puts animals or people at risk — in serious cases without prior notice.

12. Privacy

How we handle personal data in TailTag is described in the TailTag Privacy Policy, which is part of your use of this product. Please read it.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms as TailTag grows. For significant changes we will give notice in the product and, where appropriate, by email before they take effect. Minor updates are published here with a new date.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Montenegro, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection or data-protection rights you have where you live. If something goes wrong, please contact us first — we will genuinely try to resolve it. If we cannot, the dispute may be brought before the competent courts of Montenegro, or, where the law gives you that right, the courts of your place of residence.
